Drafting
In-house drafting services enable FEC to efficiently complete design and drafting jobs. FEC’s experienced drafting teams, alongside the design engineers, have a strong focus of producing practical designs which simplify the manufacturing, operation and maintenance procedures for the design. Services are available for 2D or 3D drafting from concept layout through to detail fabrication drawings. FEC utilise an in-house drafting standard to produce consistent, controlled and presentable drawings that conform to AS1100 and our clients own standards where required.
Software
AutoCAD
FEC always use the latest version of AutoCAD as it is the fundamental 2D drawing package. The majority of vessel, tank, structural, platform and piping isometrics are completed in AutoCAD.
Autodesk Inventor
A 3D drafting package that allows for all conventional 3D drawings and extended features such as 3D pdf’s, animations and model mass / COG calculations. Autodesk has an extensive standard parts library that saves drafting time and allows for accurate material estimates.

Fabrication drawings for 6 API650 tanks.
Complete fabrication drawings including nozzles, manways, hold down details and shell roll-outs.
Fabrication drawings for 5 AS1210 vessels.
Complete fabrication drawings including nozzles, skirts and internal details.
Drafting of 4 KO drums.
Complete fabrication drawings for all four vessels including saddle supports, nozzles, manways, internals and platforms.
3D Drafting of casing hanger shear collar.
Complete a 3D model of the casing hanger shear collar suitable for manufacture and CNC geometry input. Develop assembly instructions and operating procedures in convenient graphics output.
Complete 3D animation of repair procedure.
The repair procedure devised for repair of the lower strake of a column was questioned. FEC completed a 3D animation showing the steps of the repair procedure and confirmed all clearances and allowed our client to clearly demonstrate the process to involved personnel and OHS reviewers.
2D animation of Evapoconcentrator process for Beneterra.
Following the mechanical design of the Evapoconcentrator, FEC’s drafting team were asked to complete a 2D animation to describe the complex process of converting CSG and mine wastewater for beneficial use. The video animation can be found here: Beneterra Mobile Water Solutions.
